Well, another year!! This year passing so fast to me, and I've done nothing, even keeping my blog active! But in the spirit of "better than nothing", few entries still better than nothing LOL.
I wish you, my family and friends; a Merry Merry Christmas and all the best in coming year! may the spirit of God and peace be with you all - and that is what we need in this crisis time.

The kind man
By co-incidence when searching info in the net for my next trip (France and Korea) I saw this photo, by some reason, I just can't take my eye off the image: a strange man’s image has touching me deeply!!
Look at him: his look is straight and sad! I am not sure that he smiling or not, but thru the expression of his face, I think he is!
To me, when I look at his image, I think of a man been through so many hard times in his life but still alive and survived, standing firm and high from the horrible pass and start to lives his life again, yet not loosing the kindness of his soul.
Just something I want to share with you!!!

Malaysia and me: A foreword of our Malaysia trip, 27 years later.
My family, at least me, my husband and my daughter (not son) owe a big debt to Malaysia and its people.
To help you understand more, let me tell you a story, not start by the famous "Once upon a time" because this story only happened 27 years ago; not too long to say once upon a time, but long enough to see my daughter- 3 years old then- grow up and got married - 30 years old now.
We escaped our country - Vietnam - in January 1981. After 3 days on the sea, we arrived to a West Coast small fishing village , we were checked and were sorted by United Nation High Commission of Refugee' officer. Then we were transfer to Marrang and had 3 days to recovered before taken to Pulau Bidong.
To make long stoty short, we stayed in Bidong for 2 months, went to Kuala Lumpur for 1 moths before set our foot into our new country Australia. Without the kindness of Malaysian goverment, Malaysian poeple who opened their arms and their hearts to received us, we would not alive today to tell you this.
27 years later, my son bough us tickets to Malaysia via Kuala Lumpur . So we come back to the country that we never set our foot out of the refugee camp before and now we have chance to see it up and close. In some way, there's a link between land and people, Malaysia and our family!! See you in Malaysia.

Our weekend @ Taronga Zoo, Sydney
Today I went to the Taronga Zoo with my son's family. The very last time I visited Taronga zoo was late 80's, when son was 14y/o and Daughter was 11. We took them to see the Giant Panda.
The train trip to Sydney CBD was totally chaos: School holiday still in and the train schedule was late. Cars were full and noisy but we enjoyed it because it is my G/son first ride on a train. On the ferry to Taronga, I carried him and hold him near the balcony' rail so he could see the water. He watched, turn my face to asked question, talk and talk his baby English language!!
Upon arrive to the Zoo, a long line stuck at the ticket booth: So many people and families, only 2 staffs to issue the tickets.
By the time We step inside the Zoo, my G/son was fall into sleep so he missed out of seeing the Roos which are his favor "roos jump booing booing that what he always yelled at home when playing", my G/D Caitlyn was enjoyed to see the Koala and we have fun to guess how many Koala are awake! Caitlyn was thrill when she saw a Koala open its eye, jump to another eucalyptus branch and start eating the leaf.
In the Nocturnal animal area, I have a fight with a Chinese lady, who tapped onto the display glass. I told her to stop disturb the animals and she said: "But I didn't break the glass!" What's an answer!!
The most discomfort place for me is the reptile’s area: I am scared of anything that relates to reptile: caterpillar, worm, snake etc... So am volunteer to look after my G/son outside hahaha
I took some photos of G/S with the giraffe when he woke up, and we all have fun watching the Seal' show.
It's good to have a day out, especially with my grand children. This is the first time I see a MeerCat too, I am a bit surprise to see them smaller than I thought, but they really cute creatures: One was digging a hole in the hot sand, his/her companion sat next, then suddenly fall down playing dead and then lay down there sleep until we left. We have a good laugh.

Joshua's 2nd birthday
Joshua is my grand son, he stay with us since he was 2 months old and in some way, he just like our youngest son Hahaha. Actually, I think most of grand parents love theirs grand children more than the children themselves - Is it because when we go to the last days of our journey, seeing a new bulb grow up is the most amazing thing and plus, we have time to observe and get closer care with our grand children?
Here are some photos we took on Joshua's 2nd birthday.
Let me show you to your table: #29
#2 candle, and stars glittering on his birthday cake
Sister practiced to be MC!

Vy
Vy is my adopted grand daughter. She came to Australia on 2002, just 8 years old by then.
She has talent of painting, so I enrolled her into an art class for learning the skill of painting, and here are some of her works. Isn't it great for a 13 years old girl?
I hope that one day she will be continue her passion of painting, as now she has to stop painting for a while because of her high school home works, and it 's harder for her remember that she just came here for 5 years, English is always a problem but she has tried her best. Good on you and keep up your passion Vy!!

A kick off ( for a very lazy woman: ME)
I must say this is really a kick off. Recently I was so lazy - May be all the words "English words"escaped from my mind!! Beside travel can not be done frequently (Remember I am a retiree??) so I better will post some of my daily cooking, some special meals for special occasions and got to recall my memory about some of my last trips.
One day my daughter rang me and said her hubby watched a travel show on TV, and the traveller/host in the show went to Viet Nam and one of the meals he ate was Bánh xèo (Sizzling pancake) ."Can you make it Mum?" - And here the Bánh xèo:
Bánh xèo is good when eat with lots of herb, Salad and of course, a good dipping fish sauce
From the way my son in law enjoyed his pancake, you can judge how good the dish was :D
