NewYork city

New York? New York city? Great!! the city of my childhood dream, my teenage' dream. Just can't wait to see it so when our plane turned its last time to touch down I took Manhattan from the sky !!

Manhattan

The great old lady ( Statue of Liberty) view from our plane

Empire State Building's entrance

Of course no visit to NYC will be completed without a visit to Empire State Building.

We bought the tickets online before we left land of OZ and glad we did when we saw the loooonnnng queu !! Still queued to the lifts though :). If you ever go to NYC and go to the top of ESB, do it at dusk to see the city start to light up, what's a sight!!

Chrysler building, from ESB

New York' architecture

The golden Bull, Wall street's symbol
We also went to Ground Zero, stood there, looked at the vast empty site once was NewYorker' pride, my spine felt tingling, my eye was wet. In silent I said a prayer to the victims.

May they rest in peace.
Amen

New York is too big, and our stay was just for few days so what we saw just its surface. Hope that one day we will come back, and yes, so far NYC and Tokyo are my favorite places.

Washington DC, Spring 2006 - Part 1

( Click on the picture to view with full scale )

In 2006 we came to visit my sister - in -law who lives in North Carolina, USA. Then 3 of us went to visit Washington DC and New York City.

Whilst our plane circle and prepared to land at Ronald Reagan airport, I could see the Capitol shone in the sunshine. We chose to stay at Eden, Virginia because a large Vietnamese community settled there and we could find food ( Vietnamese ) easily after sightseeing

And this building gave us lots of time to find :) it hide behind a big park ( La Fayette?? ) and less high than its neighbour buildings.

White House ( note the snipes on its terrace )

Been in Japan before the States, I must say US' metro system far behind Japan' s . While Japan - Tokyo system are well lit, the directions between destinations marked clearly( Japanese use a color code i.e. Asakusa line ' s stations symbol as a red A1, A2 and so on ) so finding our way wasn't a problem. We couldn't say same things to US' system. The stations are dark, dim lit, lack of sign and info. We lost many times at Washington DC ' and NYC' metro and never got lost in Japan!!

Next entry will be some photos of Washington DC. Enjoy !!
